Individual business travel insurance
A private travel insurance covers holidays, not work. Anyone travelling on business with a laptop, samples or tools falls outside the cover on precisely those points.

In brief
Business travel insurance covers trips you make for your work: luggage and business equipment, medical expenses, assistance and repatriation, and often accidents during the trip.
The difference from a private policy is fundamental. A private policy excludes travel for a business purpose, and does not cover business equipment, samples and tools at all or only up to a very low amount.
This page deals with one part. The overview of all parts is on the main page on business insurance.
Independent, personal, sorted quickly
We compare your business travel insurance across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

Declare business equipment separately
A laptop, phone, measuring equipment and samples often represent more value than the rest of your luggage.
Medical expenses outside Europe
Your health insurance covers up to the Dutch tariff. On a business trip to the United States the medical expenses module is not optional.
Area of cover and length of the trip
Do you travel worldwide or only within Europe? And how long do your trips last? Both determine the premium and acceptance.
Travel advice from Buitenlandse Zaken (the Dutch ministry of foreign affairs)
Travel to areas subject to a negative travel advisory is generally excluded. Check that before you leave.
What determines the premium
- Number of travel days per year
- Area of cover
- Equipment insured
- Modules chosen: medical, personal accident, legal expenses
- Excess
This information is general in nature and is not personal advice. What is actually covered, including exclusions and the excess, is set out in the policy conditions and the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) of the insurer; you receive both before you take out cover.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Frequently asked questions
Can I travel on business on my private travel insurance?
No. It generally excludes travel for a business purpose, and covers business equipment not at all or barely.
Is my laptop insured as well?
On a business travel policy it is, provided it has been declared. On a private policy a low limit often applies to electronics.
Do I need medical expenses cover within Europe?
Within Europe it is sensible too; outside Europe it is virtually indispensable, because your health insurance only covers up to the Dutch tariff.
What about a negative travel advisory?
Travel to such an area is usually excluded. If you go anyway, you carry the risk yourself.
