FINASS is not an insurer but an independent insurance adviser. We act as intermediaries in applying for policies, and we can include what Ansvar offers alongside that of more than thirty other companies. In practice, Ansvar mainly comes into the picture with us for car insurance.
We work the other way round from what a brand name might suggest. First we establish what you want to insure, which risk you can carry yourself and which exclusions you cannot afford. Only then comes the question of which insurer suits that best. A the choice of insurer follows from the cover you need, not the other way round. That also means we will happily advise a different company if it fits your situation better.
When comparing, we look beyond the premium. What matters are the exclusions, the basis of valuation applied, the excess, whether you are free to choose your own repairer or contractor, and how the company handles claims. Two policies with comparable premiums can be far apart on those points.
Three steps determine whether Ansvar or another company appears on your quotation.
What you actually want to insure and which risk you carry yourself.
Policy conditions and premiums from several companies side by side.
We handle the application, the switch and support in the event of a claim.

What is actually covered, including exclusions, limits and the excess, is set out in the policy conditions and the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) that you receive before you take out cover.
Two points that apply with every insurer, including Ansvar.
Every company applies its own conditions and its own exclusions. Almost everywhere, the same categories remain outside the cover: intent and recklessness under Article 7:952 of the Dutch Civil Code, damage caused by wear, deferred maintenance and design faults, and damage during speed contests. Policies also carry limits per event and per year. So do not compare on brand name but on what the conditions actually say, and always ask for the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) before you sign.
On taking out the policy, the duty of disclosure applies under Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code: you pass on everything that could matter for acceptance, including a claims history or an earlier refusal. If the declaration is incorrect, the payout may be reduced or refused under Article 7:930 of the Dutch Civil Code. If a loss occurs, report it as soon as reasonably possible, as Article 7:941 of the Dutch Civil Code prescribes. We help you complete the application in full.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is why comparing pays off.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
The questions we are asked most often about this.
No. FINASS is an independent insurance adviser and acts as an intermediary in arranging insurance. We have access to what several insurers offer and are not tied to any one company. That means we will also advise you to take out cover with a different insurer where that suits your situation better. Our working method and our remuneration are set out in our services guide.
Often, yes. In many cases a current policy can be transferred to our administration without the cover changing or having to be applied for again. We then go through the policy, Check whether the sums insured and the form of cover are still correct, and discuss whether any change would be worthwhile. Contact us with the policy schedule to hand.
You choose, we advise. We put several quotations before you with an explanation of the differences in conditions, exclusions and excess, so you can see where the price difference comes from. What usually decides the matter is not the premium but which events are excluded and which limits apply. The final choice always remains yours.
For general insurance we usually work on the basis of a fee included in the premium; you then pay no separate invoice for the intermediary work. Different arrangements apply to certain forms of advice. How we are remunerated and which services this covers are set out in our services guide. Please do ask before you take anything out.
