WEGAM
Employers' liability motor Vehicles: covers loss suffered by employees who take part in traffic in a Engine vehicle belonging to the employer.
That is the narrow variant and suits a Business where people drive only in company vehicles.
WEGAS
Employers' liability damage: broader, and also covers participation in traffic without a company Engine vehicle — on foot, by bicycle, in their own car or as a passenger.
In businesses where employees are also out on a bicycle or on foot, or drive their own car, that is the appropriate form.
What to base your choice on
Ask yourself: do my people travel only in company Vehicles, or in other ways too? With care workers on bicycles, delivery staff, or employees who go to clients in their own car, WEGAM covers too little.
Also note the sum insured and on whether commuting is covered; that differs per policy and is often the point of discussion.
What it is not
None personal Accident insurance with a fixed amount. These policies cover the loss actually suffered, and that is precisely why, according to the case law, a fixed-sum Insurance is not sufficient.

Frequently asked questions
The questions we are asked most often about this.
What's the difference?
WEGAM covers only company motor Vehicles; WEGAS covers all participation in traffic for work.
Which one suits my Business?
If your people also travel by bicycle, on foot or in their own car, WEGAS is the appropriate form.
Is commuting covered?
That differs per policy and is often the point of discussion; ask about it explicitly.
Is personal Accident insurance enough?
No; that pays a fixed amount instead of the loss suffered.
Why is this needed alongside an AVB?
Because the AVB excludes damage involving motor Vehicles.
What is the obligation based on?
On good employment practice under Article 7:611 of the Dutch Civil Code, as the Supreme Court held.
What is covered and what is not
Who is covered in which Situation?
| Situation | WEGAM | WEGAS |
|---|---|---|
| An employee drives the company van into a tree and breaks their wrist | Yes | Yes |
| A district nurse skids on a slippery bridge on the company bicycle | No | Yes |
| A technician is knocked down as a pedestrian on the way to the next job | No | Yes |
| An employee is injured as a passenger in a colleague's car | No | Yes |
| Injury while commuting in their own car | Provided that | Provided that |
| An employee trips over a loose cable in the warehouse | No | No |
Both policies fill the traffic gap only; injury within the company's own walls remains a matter for public and employers' liability Insurance (AVB).
