Zip insurance does not exist as a product in the Netherlands. It is usually a typing error or an internal working name. Below you can read which policies do exist.

We would rather not name cover that does not exist. There is no insurer in the Netherlands offering a product under the name zip insurance. In reality we see two explanations: a slip for zzp insurance, the umbrella term for a self-employed professional's policies, or an internal package name an intermediary has given to a combination of policies.
If you are looking for cover as a self-employed professional, it is almost always about public and employers' liability, professional indemnity for advisory work, cover for tools or a laptop, legal expenses and a provision for disability. If it concerns your private situation, it is about health, liability, home contents, buildings and your vehicle.
Never judge a policy by its name. The insurance card (verzekeringskaart) and the policy conditions tell you what is covered, which amounts apply and what is excluded. Insurers may name products as they wish. Only the conditions are binding.
Every sector carries its own risks. We translate those into cover that genuinely fits what you do day to day, rather than a standard package that just happens to apply to your business too.

The only two insurances the law imposes on you in the Netherlands.
Not compulsory, but losses you pay yourself without these policies.
If you work for clients, your private policy stops there.
What is covered
| Situation | Private | As a self-employed professional |
|---|---|---|
| Health insurance if you live or work in the Netherlands | Yes | Yes |
| Third-party liability cover for a vehicle in your name | Yes | Yes |
| Personal liability insurance (AVP) | Yes | Provided that |
| Home contents and buildings cover for your home | Yes | Provided that |
| Liability for work carried out for clients | No | Yes |
| Cover for long-term disability | No | Yes |
What is actually covered is set out in the policy conditions and the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) that you receive before you take out cover.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Two points when looking for the right policy.
Describe what can go wrong and find the cover that matches: damage to someone else, loss of your possessions, loss of income, or a legal dispute. Names such as 'complete package', 'security plan' or an abbreviation say nothing about the content. Always ask for the insurance card (verzekeringskaart): it sets out in a fixed format what is and is not covered, which limits apply and which excess applies.
Whatever the name, certain things stay outside the cover. Excluded are, among other things, intent and wilful recklessness (Article 7:952 of the Dutch Civil Code), wear, deferred maintenance and gradually acting moisture, and damage arising from a profession or business on a private policy. Legal expenses insurance also has a waiting period and does not cover a dispute already running. Complete the application correctly: the duty of disclosure in Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code applies, and a breach can cost you the payment (Article 7:930 of the Dutch Civil Code).

This is what people ask us most.
Not as a product. No Dutch insurer offers a policy under that name, and there is no form of cover called that. So we are not going to invent conditions for it. It usually turns out to be zzp insurance or a package name a provider has thought up itself for a combination of ordinary policies.
That is the most likely reading. Zzp insurance is itself an umbrella term as well: it covers public and employers' liability, professional indemnity, cover for tools and equipment, legal expenses and a provision for disability. Which of those you need depends on your work, your clients and your financial buffer.
Read the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) and the policy conditions. The insurance card is a standardised overview of cover, exclusions and limits. Pay particular attention to the exclusions, the excess, the territory and the sums insured. If you are unsure about a term, ask for an explanation before you sign, not after there is a claim.
First set out which events you could not absorb financially: liability for injury, loss of your home or contents, loss of income. Insure those risks first. Small, predictable costs are better carried yourself. An adviser will go through that assessment with you.
Every situation is different. For these situations we have a separate page.
