Continuous travel insurance through Unigarant suits holidays taken in your own vehicle, with a caravan or a motorhome, and it is precisely there that the line with your vehicle policy runs.

If you go on holiday by car, caravan or motorhome, a loss is split across two policies. Everything you take with you is luggage. The vehicle itself, the awning and the fixed fittings belong with the vehicle insurance. Anyone who does not have that distinction clear reports a claim to the wrong party and loses weeks.
Unigarant is known for its recreational policies. We therefore often use continuous travel cover alongside a motorhome, caravan or motorcycle policy, so that assistance, luggage and liability connect rather than overlap. Which section belongs where, we record in writing with the advice.
If you also want to insure cancellation costs, that is a second cover: the continuous cancellation insurance through Unigarant. If you occasionally travel for longer than your policy allows, a single-trip travel insurance fills that gap.
We compare your travel insurance across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

Compare
Get coveredThe structure of the cover in three parts, with an overview per situation below.
The basic cover insures the core of your continuous travel insurance. We show what Unigarant and other insurers offer within it.
On top of that to medical assistance, also luggage, accidents, legal expenses and (optionally) winter sports.
The most complete cover. We compare the extended version from Unigarant with the market.
What is covered
| Situation | Basic | With winter sports module |
|---|---|---|
| Theft of luggage from a locked space | Provided that | Provided that |
| Repatriation after an accident | Yes | Yes |
| Medical expenses abroad | Provided that | Provided that |
| Damage to or theft of hired ski equipment | No | Yes |
| An accident while skiing off-piste | No | Provided that |
| A trip to an area with a negative travel advisory | No | No |
Travel insurance reimburses medical expenses as a supplement to your health insurance, not as a replacement for it. Winter sports and special sports are excluded as standard and require a separate module. A negative travel advisory from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs generally excludes cover for that area; report a claim as soon as reasonably possible (7:941 DCC).

This overview concerns our service, not the cover. What is actually covered is set out in the policy conditions and on the insurer's insurance card (verzekeringskaart); you receive both before you take out cover.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Four points that make the difference between a policy that pays out and one that does not.
If your car or motorhome comes to a stop, the travel policy does not pay for it. Towing, roadside repair, a replacement vehicle and bringing the vehicle home belong with breakdown assistance cover on your vehicle policy. The travel insurance only takes over where people are concerned: onward travel, extra accommodation costs and repatriation in the event of illness. So check that foreign breakdown assistance is actually on the motor policy.
What is in the motorhome is not automatically luggage. Fixed fittings, the kitchen unit, the canopy and the awning belong with the motorhome or caravan insurance; clothing, equipment and bicycles fall under the luggage section of the travel policy, provided it is included. Bicycles on a rear carrier are a well-known point of dispute: many sets of conditions require a sound lock and exclude theft during the night altogether.
If you spend the winter in southern Europe or make a long tour, you run into the maximum number of consecutive days per trip. From that day there is no cover, not even for the journey home and not for a stay in hospital on the way. Report a longer trip in advance and we will choose a policy with a wider limit or arrange separate cover for that one trip.
Not covered are: damage to the vehicle itself, to the awning and canopy by storm and to the fixed fittings; tools and spare parts you take with you; theft from a car left unattended or from an awning that is not closed; and injury while diving, climbing or motocrossing without a module. Article 7:952 of the Dutch Civil Code excludes intent and recklessness, including driving under the influence.
This is what people ask us most.
No. Towing, roadside repair, a replacement vehicle and bringing the vehicle home come under breakdown assistance cover on your car, motorhome or caravan insurance. The travel insurance pays for what happens to the occupants: onward travel, extra nights and transport in the event of illness or an accident. We check that both covers are in place before you leave.
Only if the luggage section is included and the bicycles fit within the sum insured. Virtually all conditions require a sound lock and exclude theft from the carrier during the night. For an expensive e-bike there is also a sub-limit. You are better off insuring it separately through your bicycle insurance, which also applies at home and on the way to work.
On the day the maximum number of consecutive travel days is exceeded, cover for that trip stops. Everything that happens after that is uninsured, including the journey home. Extending afterwards is not possible. If you know in advance that you will be away longer, say so; we arrange a policy with a wider trip length or separate cover for that trip.
That happens regularly, because both the caravan policy and the luggage section of the travel insurance cover something of the contents. Payment is made only once: Article 7:960 of the Dutch Civil Code does not allow you to receive more than your actual loss. So we agree which policy carries the contents and reduce the cover on the other, so that you do not pay twice.
Every situation is different. For these situations we have a separate page.
