The annual form insures every trip you book during the policy year, without your having to arrange anything per booking. There are two limits to it that you should know in advance: bookings you had already made before the start date do not count, and there is a maximum sum insured per person per year that all your trips share.
We recommend this form for people who book several times a year: a summer holiday, a weekend away, a week's skiing. If you book once a year, a policy per booking is usually more efficient; see the short-term cancellation insurance through Unigarant.
Cancellation and travel are two different covers. Travel cover starts on departure; cancellation is about the costs when you do not leave. If you want both on a continuous basis, we will discuss them alongside each other with the continuous travel insurance through Unigarant.
We compare your cancellation insurance across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

Compare
Get coveredThe structure of the cover in three parts, with an overview per situation below.
The basic cover insures the core of your continuous cancellation insurance. We show what Unigarant and other insurers offer within it.
On top of that to medical assistance, also luggage, accidents, legal expenses and (optionally) winter sports.
The most complete cover. We compare the extended version from Unigarant with the market.
What is covered
| Situation | Basic | With winter sports module |
|---|---|---|
| Theft of luggage from a locked space | Provided that | Provided that |
| Repatriation after an accident | Yes | Yes |
| Medical expenses abroad | Provided that | Provided that |
| Damage to or theft of hired ski equipment | No | Yes |
| An accident while skiing off-piste | No | Provided that |
| A trip to an area with a negative travel advisory | No | No |
Travel insurance reimburses medical expenses as a supplement to your health insurance, not as a replacement for it. Winter sports and special sports are excluded as standard and require a separate module. A negative travel advisory from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs generally excludes cover for that area; report a claim as soon as reasonably possible (7:941 DCC).

This overview concerns our service, not the cover. What is actually covered is set out in the policy conditions and on the insurer's insurance card (verzekeringskaart); you receive both before you take out cover.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Four points that make the difference between a policy that pays out and one that does not.
An annual policy covers what you book during its term. The trip you booked last month falls outside it, even if the departure date is far in the future. If you still want to insure that trip, a separate policy per booking is needed. So take out an annual form before the booking season starts, and not once the first trip has been booked.
Many continuous cancellation policies have a waiting period after the start date: if you call off a trip within that period for a health-related reason, there is no cover. That provision prevents anyone insuring themselves while something is already going on. Ask about the waiting period and bear it in mind if you want to take out a policy shortly before an examination or a procedure.
The sum insured applies per person per policy year and not per trip. An expensive summer holiday can use up most of the maximum, after which the skiing week in December is only partly insured. So add up your annual travel spending before you choose an amount, and let us know when you book a trip that is clearly above your usual level.
Not covered are: calling off a trip because of negative travel advice, changed plans or pressure of work; conditions for which you were already under treatment at the start, in view of Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code; resigning of your own accord; and booking and reservation fees. The bankruptcy of a travel provider belongs to the industry guarantee scheme. Notification must be made as soon as reasonably possible, as required by Article 7:941 of the Dutch Civil Code.
This is what people ask us most.
No. Continuous cancellation insurance only covers bookings you make after the policy has started. The departure date is not relevant. What counts is the booking date. For a trip that is already fixed you can still take out a separate policy per booking, provided no reason to cancel is known at that moment.
Per person per policy year, and all trips share that maximum. If your summer holiday takes up a large part of the amount, less is left for an autumn weekend or a week's skiing. If you expect an expensive year, let us know; we will adjust the sum insured before you book rather than afterwards.
Many policies do not cover cancellation for health reasons in the first period after the start date. That prevents anyone insuring themselves while a diagnosis or a procedure is already in prospect. How long that period lasts differs from insurer to insurer. We ask for the term and take it into account if you want to take out a policy shortly before a medical examination.
Yes, the continuous cancellation cover can be taken out as a policy in its own right. Some insurers offer it only as a module with their travel insurance. A combination is then necessary. We compare both arrangements, because a separate cancellation policy alongside an existing travel insurance policy with another company does not always work out cheaper.
Every situation is different. For these situations we have a separate page.
