Lease car insurance is car insurance for a leased car. Whether you have to arrange it yourself depends on the form of lease. With operating lease the insurance is usually included in the monthly amount. With finance lease you are the economic owner and take out insurance yourself — almost always comprehensive, because the leasing company requires it. With some private lease contracts too, you arrange or top up the cover yourself.
At Finass Verzekert we compare more than 30 Dutch insurers so that you take out exactly the cover your lease contract prescribes — at the keenest premium. We pay attention to the leasing company's requirements, such as compulsory comprehensive cover and GAP or purchase price cover, and to useful additions such as occupants cover and reducing your excess.
With an operating (business) lease the insurance is normally included. There you mainly want additional cover such as occupants insurance. With finance lease and with some private lease contracts you arrange the insurance yourself and comprehensive cover is often compulsory. We advise you independently on what is needed in your situation.
We compare your van insurance across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

Get coveredThe structure of the cover in three parts, with an overview per situation below.
The basic cover required by law. Only permitted where your lease contract allows it — usually with an older finance lease car of low market value.
Alongside third-party liability cover, protection against external damage to the lease car. Permitted where the lease contract does not require full comprehensive cover.
The most complete cover — full own-damage cover, including damage you cause yourself. Compulsory under most lease contracts and to be supplemented with GAP or purchase price cover.

This overview concerns our service, not the cover. What is actually covered is set out in the policy conditions and on the insurer's insurance card (verzekeringskaart); you receive both before you take out cover.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Four points that make the difference between a policy that pays out and one that does not.
GAP / purchase price cover On a total loss or theft, covers the difference between the payment (market value) and your outstanding lease debt or the purchase price — preventing a residual debt.
Occupants insurance (SVI) Pays for injury and damage to property suffered by the driver and passengers, regardless of who is at fault — often not standard in a lease contract.
Reducing the excess Reduce or buy off the excess the leasing company charges when there is a claim, so that you pay less or nothing yourself.
Breakdown assistance & a replacement vehicle 24/7 breakdown assistance in the Netherlands and Europe and a replacement vehicle during damage or repair, where this is not already included in your lease contract.
This is what people ask us most.
That depends on the form of lease. With an operating (business) lease the insurance is usually in the monthly amount. With finance lease and with some private lease contracts you take out car insurance yourself, almost always comprehensive. We advise you independently on what is needed in your situation.
With an operating lease the leasing company is the owner and the insurance is normally included. With finance lease you are the economic owner and arrange the insurance yourself. Private lease is for private individuals. Sometimes the insurance is included, sometimes you top it up yourself with, for example, occupants cover or a lower excess.
Under most lease contracts, certainly finance lease, the leasing company requires uninterrupted comprehensive cover for the whole term. Only with an older car of low value does the contract sometimes allow lower cover. Always check the requirements in your contract. We match the policy to them.
GAP or purchase price cover pays, on a total loss or theft, the difference between the payment on market value and your outstanding lease debt or the original purchase price. Without this cover you can be left with a residual debt. With a lease car GAP is therefore strongly advisable.
With an operating lease the leasing company is often the policyholder, which means you build up no no-claims years yourself. With finance lease and with a policy of your own you do build them up. We look at how you can best use or keep the no-claims years you have built up.
Yes, you can often reduce or buy off the excess that applies when you claim, through an additional module. That way you pay less or nothing yourself when you claim. We show you with which insurer this can be done most favourably.
Every situation is different. For these situations we have a separate page.
