Third-party liability insurance

With a private lease, comprehensive cover is usually already included in your monthly payment — but often with a high excess and without occupants' cover. Finass Verzekert arranges the sensible top-ups and compares several insurers. Independent advice — AFM-registered and a member of Kifid.

With a private lease you lease a car as a private individual for a fixed amount per month, including maintenance, road tax and comprehensive motor insurance. The insurance is therefore usually already included in your monthly payment. Even so, many private lease drivers run into two things: a high excess when there is a claim and the absence of occupants' cover. Additional private lease insurance fills exactly those gaps.
At Finass Verzekert we look independently at which top-ups are worthwhile for you and compare more than 30 Dutch insurers. That allows you, for example, to reduce the excess under your lease contract and arrange occupants' or personal accident cover — at a keen premium and without ending up insured twice.
The comprehensive cover included as standard covers damage to the car, but with a private lease the excess can run to a substantial amount per claim. Injury to the driver and occupants is also often not covered. With a targeted top-up you pay less yourself when there is a claim and you and your passengers are better protected.
We compare your van insurance across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

Get coveredThe structure of the cover in three parts, with an overview per situation below.
The legally required basic cover. With a private lease you receive comprehensive cover as standard, so separate third-party liability cover is virtually never relevant here.
An intermediate level that rarely occurs with a private lease. Your lease car is generally insured on a comprehensive basis.
The most complete cover and the standard with a private lease: full own-damage cover, including where you are at fault. Often with a high excess that you can reduce.

This overview concerns our service, not the cover. What is actually covered is set out in the policy conditions and on the insurer's insurance card (verzekeringskaart); you receive both before you take out cover.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Four points that make the difference between a policy that pays out and one that does not.
Reducing the excess The excess with a private lease often runs high. By buying it off or reducing it, you pay much less — or nothing — yourself when there is a claim.
Occupants' indemnity cover (SVI) Reimburses injury and material damage to the driver and passengers, regardless of who is at fault. This cover is usually absent from a private lease contract.
Personal accident cover for occupants Pays a fixed amount in the event of permanent injury to or the death of occupants in a road accident — a targeted addition to your lease cover.
Breakdown assistance & legal expenses 24/7 breakdown assistance in Europe and legal help with traffic disputes, in case this is not (fully) included in your private lease contract.
This is what people ask us most.
Yes, with a private lease comprehensive motor insurance is almost always included in the monthly payment, along with maintenance and road tax. So you do not have to take out the basic cover yourself. What is often missing, however, is a low excess and occupants' cover; you arrange those separately.
Yes. The excess in a private lease contract often runs to 1.000 euro or more per claim. Through additional cover you can reduce or buy off that excess, so that you pay much less or nothing yourself when there is a claim. We show you where this can be done most economically.
Usually not. The standard comprehensive cover insures the car, but injury to the driver and passengers often falls outside it. Separate occupants' or personal accident cover fills this gap, regardless of who is at fault for an accident.
Generally not. With a private lease the leasing company is often the policyholder, so you do not build up no-claims years yourself. When the contract ends you therefore usually do not have those years available for your next own car. We think through the consequences with you.
No, with a private lease the leasing company bears the residual value risk, so GAP cover against an outstanding debt is not needed here. That is different with a financial lease. With a private lease you are better off focusing on the excess and occupants' cover.
The basic comprehensive cover is tied to the lease contract and is usually not yours to choose. The additional cover, such as reducing the excess or occupants' cover, you do take out yourself. We compare those top-ups independently for you.
