- The name of the parachute centre
- A one-off jump or a course
- Confirmation on paper
In a tandem jump you are attached to a certified instructor who operates the parachute system. For insurers it remains an air sport, and that is excluded on most policies.

You do not jump yourself: the tandem master steers, opens and lands. That reduces the risk, but it does not change the category. Travel, accident and life policies contain an exclusion for air sports, including parachute jumping, and it applies to the passenger at the front of the harness as well.
Some insurers make an exception for a one-off tandem jump at a recognised parachute centre, provided it is declared in advance. That exception does not apply to a training course, a solo jump or formation jumping. Without a declaration there is no cover, not even for medical costs.
We compare your travel insurance across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

You have to apply for the exception for a tandem jump yourself.
This is often where the air sports clause bites hardest.
You almost always sign a statement accepting the risk yourself.

What is actually covered is set out in the policy conditions and the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) that you receive in advance.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Two points that determine whether your jump is insured.
The standard list names mountain sports, air sports, deep diving and speed competitions. Parachute jumping comes under air sports, together with paragliding, gliding and BASE jumping. The exclusion rarely distinguishes between solo and tandem. That distinction is something you have to have recorded yourself.
Parachuting and skydiving
An application form often asks about high-risk sports. If you answer incorrectly, Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code applies and the insurer can fall back on Article 7:930 of the Dutch Civil Codewhen you claim. If you jump only once, check whether your current accident policy contains an air sports clause.
This is what people ask us most.
Usually yes. The exclusion for air sports looks at the activity, not at who operates the parachute. Some insurers accept a one-off tandem jump after it has been declared in advance. That is an exception, not a rule.
Parachute centres have their own liability insurance for mistakes by their staff or their equipment. It does not cover injury that arises without any fault. The waiver you sign further limits your ability to recover; keep a copy.
If the insurer asks about it, yes. Non-disclosure comes under the duty of disclosure of Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code. For a one-off jump a short written notification is usually enough; ask for confirmation that the cover remains in place.
Cancellation insurance covers the trip, not a jump that is called off. A postponement because of wind or cloud is a normal business risk of the parachute centre and falls outside the cover. Look at their own rebooking terms.
Every situation is different. For these situations we have a separate page.
Have it established before the jump whether your policy includes air sports. We apply for it on your behalf.
