For most home contents insurers a set of golf clubs is an ordinary household item: covered at home against fire and against burglary with signs of forced entry, but barely covered away from home. And away from home is exactly where things happen: in the boot of the car, in the locker, on the course. The golf module in the Bewust package policy takes the equipment out of that household item category and gives it its own sum insured and its own territorial limits on offer.
This page is about damage to and loss of your own equipment. If you hit a car or a fellow player with a ball, that is a liability matter and the claim goes through your personal liability insurance, not through the golf module.
We set the Ansvar Idea golf module alongside stand-alone golf policies from other providers, including the golf insurance from Turien & Co, looking above all at the sum insured, the treatment of loss and the question of whether you are paying twice for cover you already have under your home contents policy.
We compare your golf insurance across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

Get coveredThe structure of the cover in three parts, with an overview per situation below.
The basic cover insures the core of your Bewust golf insurance. We show what Ansvar Idea and other insurers offer within it.
On top of that to the basic cover, also protection against loss of equipment, hired and borrowed clubs and golf trips worldwide.
The most complete cover. We compare Ansvar Idea's extended version with the market.
What is covered
| Situation | Basic | With extension |
|---|---|---|
| Theft of golf equipment from a locked space | Provided that | Yes |
| Breakage of a club during play | No | Yes |
| Damage you cause to someone else with a ball | Yes | Yes |
| Damage to a hired golf buggy | Provided that | Provided that |
| Hole-in-one payment | No | Provided that |
| Wear of grips and shoes | No | No |
Liability on the course is usually covered by your personal liability insurance (AVP); golf insurance is aimed at the equipment. Note the requirements for storing the bag and the cover during transport and abroad.

This overview concerns our service, not the cover. What is actually covered is set out in the policy conditions and on the insurer's insurance card (verzekeringskaart); you receive both before you take out cover.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Four points that make the difference between a policy that pays out and one that does not.
If your set is in the shed, it will usually also fall under the home contents cover there. Insuring twice gains you nothing: under Article 7:960 of the Dutch Civil Code you never receive more than the actual loss. So we first look at what your home contents policy already does, and use the golf module for the part that is missing there: the equipment away from home, on the course and on the way to the course.
A module covering the equipment is not a guarantee on the equipment itself. Not covered are scratches and dents from normal use, a shaft that breaks during the swing without any external cause, grips coming loose, and damage resulting from a manufacturing fault. The gradual effect of damp in a bag that was put away wet is also outside the cover. What is covered is the sudden event coming from outside: a fall, a collision, theft after forced entry.
Most policy conditions set requirements for how you leave your set. A bag lying in plain sight in the car, a clubhouse locker that was not locked, or a trolley left loose by the terrace during lunch: those are the situations in which a claim founders. Report theft immediately to the police and to us — Article 7:941 of the Dutch Civil Code requires you to report the loss as soon as possible and to limit the damage.
In the Bewust range, golf runs as a module alongside other modules, on one policy with one renewal date. That makes administration simpler, but it makes the information you give at the outset weightier: details you should have disclosed under Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code carry through into the whole package. If you buy a new set, or the value rises after you buy a hybrid or a putter, tell us before any damage occurs.
This is what people ask us most.
At home it usually is, against fire and against burglary with signs of forced entry. Away from home that cover stops in many policies, or a low sub-limit applies. The golf module insures precisely the use of the equipment: on the course, in the car and during a golf trip. We compare both policy schedules so that you do not pay premium twice for the same risk.
No. That is liability for damage to someone else and you assess it under your Article 6:162 of the Dutch Civil Code. The golf module pays only for damage to your own equipment. For the car you hit, or for injury to a fellow player, you need a personal liability insurance needed.
In the wider variants they are: if you damage clubs you hire locally or borrow from a fellow player, that falls under the cover for hired and borrowed equipment. That is a choice within the module, not something automatic. If you are taking a golf trip outside Europe, let us check the territorial limits beforehand.
It is a payment towards the traditional round of drinks in the clubhouse after a hole in one during a qualifying competition. You will usually need confirmation from the club or the competition organisers. The amount and the conditions differ from insurer to insurer. We show you what is included in your variant before you sign.
Every situation is different. For these situations we have a separate page.
