A personal portfolio consists of a handful of covers that have to fit together. Below you can read which they are and where the limits lie.

Most households deal with three groups: living (buildings, contents, glass, valuables), traffic (car, motorcycle, moped, motorhome, trailer) and person and liability (liability, legal expenses, travel, personal accident). Income also plays a part: what happens in the event of long-term illness or disability.
FINASS Verzekert is an independent insurance brokerage, registered with the AFM (the Dutch financial markets authority) under 12016589 and with the Kamer van Koophandel (the Dutch chamber of commerce) under 37131781. We are tied to no company and compare the offerings of several insurers on premium and conditions alike. Our remuneration for general insurance is included in the premium as commission. You pay no separate advice charge. We do not act as intermediary in health insurance. If you cannot resolve a matter with us, you can turn to Kifid (the financial services complaints institute) under 300.012144.
We work with dozens of insurers and choose whichever fits your situation best — not whichever pays us the most. That means advice built around you, not around one brand.
Insurers
Independent
AdviceTogether they form the basis of a personal portfolio.
Your home, your belongings and the special possessions within it.
Third-party liability is compulsory by law; own-damage cover is your own choice.
For damage you cause to others and for disputes.
What is covered
| Situation | Separate policies | In one package |
|---|---|---|
| One policy schedule and one collection date | No | Yes |
| A discount when several covers are combined | No | Provided that |
| Duplicate cover spotted in good time | No | Yes |
| Each cover separately with a different company | Yes | No |
| Health insurance through our office | No | No |
| Cover for damage that had already occurred | No | No |
What is actually covered, including exclusions, limits and excess, is set out in the policy conditions and the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) for each product.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Two points that determine whether your portfolio is watertight.
Little is compulsory by law: for motor vehicles, Article 2 of the Dutch Motor Insurance Liability Act (WAM) requires at least third-party liability cover. Buildings insurance is usually contractual required under your mortgage conditions. The rest is voluntary but not without consequence: under Article 6:162 of the Dutch Civil Code you are liable for damage caused by a wrongful act, as the possessor of a building under Article 6:174 of the Dutch Civil Code and as the keeper of an animal under Article 6:179 of the Dutch Civil Code. Those amounts can run very high.
Under virtually every personal policy the following fall outside cover: intent and recklessness (Article 7:952 of the Dutch Civil Code), wear, deferred maintenance and design faults and damage caused by war risks or a nuclear reaction. Business use of a personal policy and damage that already existed when the policy was taken out are also excluded. Report changes in your situation: on entering into the policy, Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code and a breach can reduce the payout (Article 7:930 of the Dutch Civil Code).
This is what people ask us most.
That depends on your situation. If you drive a motor vehicle, third-party liability cover is compulsory by law. If you have a mortgage, the lender almost always requires buildings insurance. Most households take out liability cover because injury claims can be very high. Contents, legal expenses and travel are choices that depend on your possessions and your travel habits.
Not automatically. A package gives you an overview, one collection date and often a discount when several covers are combined. Even so, a separate policy with a specialist company can work out better on conditions, for example with a thatched roof, a classic car or valuables. We compare both routes before you choose.
No. We do not act as intermediary in health insurance. For that you go directly to a health insurer or to a comparison site set up for it. We advise on the home, motor, liability, legal expenses, travel, valuables and income-related insurance. You can also come to us for your business policies.
For general insurance we work on a commission basis: the remuneration is included in the premium and there is no separate invoice for advice and intermediary services. Which services that covers is set out in our services guide, which you receive before taking out a policy. If we agree a fee on an hourly basis, we record that in advance.
Every situation is different. For these situations we have a separate page.
Request a quote without obligation. We look for overlaps and gaps and set the conditions side by side.
