A home package is not a separate insurance policy but a bundling. The individual covers continue to exist with their own conditions, but sit on one policy schedule with one premium due date. The core almost always consists of buildings insurance for the building, the home contents insurance for your belongings and personal liability insurance. Legal expenses, glass, valuables and a home assistance service can be added.
The practical advantage lies in the fit. If you insure buildings and contents with the same insurer, there is no dispute at a claim about the boundary between the two: a kitchen, floor, central heating system and blinds simply cannot always be classified unambiguously. Glass, too, is often covered on two policies at once; in a package you avoid paying for it twice. Insurers also usually give a package discount that rises with the number of parts. The level differs from one provider to another.
Bundling is no reason to be less critical. Each module keeps its own sum insured, excess and exclusions. So check for each part whether the amount is right, and not just whether the total is attractive. Also look at separate buildings insurance and the the wider insurance package if you want to include more than just your home.
We compare your insurance package across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

What is covered
| Situation | Basic package | Extended package |
|---|---|---|
| Fire, storm and water damage to the home | Yes | Yes |
| Theft of contents following forced entry | Yes | Yes |
| Liability for damage to third parties | Yes | Yes |
| Breakage of glass in windows and doors | Provided that | Yes |
| Jewellery, art and collections above the limit | No | Provided that |
| Subsidence, pile rot and deferred maintenance | No | No |
What is actually covered, including exclusions, limits and the excess, is set out in the policy conditions and the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) that you receive before you take out cover.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Bundling only pays off if each part is right on its own.
A package discount usually rises with the number of parts, but says nothing about the conditions. Compare the type of cover, the excess and the limits module by module. A discounted package in which the contents sum is too low or glass is missing is more expensive than it looks. Check too whether the discount lapses as soon as you cancel one part.
A kitchen, bathroom, floor, boiler, blinds and solar panels usually belong to the buildings; loose furniture, appliances and rugs to the home contents. In a rented home that boundary shifts: improvements you have made yourself are then insured as tenant's improvements on the contents policy. If everything is with one insurer, that boundary does not become a point of dispute at a claim.
An extension, a dormer window, solar panels, letting a room, running a business from home or prolonged vacancy changes the risk in several modules at once. On entering into the contract, the duty of disclosure under Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code; a breach can reduce the payout or cause it to lapse under Article 7:930 of the Dutch Civil Codeapplies. In a package you report that in one go, but it does not happen automatically.
Bundling widens nothing. On the buildings module, subsidence, foundation damage and pile rot remain excluded, as does damage caused by deferred maintenance, wear and tear and construction or material faults and by vermin, mould and slowly penetrating damp. On the contents module, separate limits apply to jewellery and valuables. Intent and recklessness are excluded on every module through Article 7:952 of the Dutch Civil Code.
This is what people ask us most.
The core consists of buildings insurance (opstalverzekering) for the structure, home contents insurance (inboedelverzekering) for your belongings and personal liability insurance (AVP). Many providers also offer legal expenses, glass cover, valuables cover and a home assistance service as separate modules. Which parts are required in order to qualify for the package discount differs from one insurer to another.
Often yes, because insurers give a package discount that rises with the number of parts. That discount differs from one provider to another and says nothing about the conditions. So compare the type of cover, limits and excess module by module. A package with a contents sum that is too low, or without glass cover, can work out more expensive at a claim than separate policies.
Usually yes, but it has consequences. If you drop below a threshold for the number of modules, the package discount on the remaining parts lapses or falls. The contracts also sometimes no longer run in step after a change. Ask in advance what cancelling one module does to the premium of the rest and to the contract term.
Then the buildings module falls away: the building belongs to the landlord and they insure it. You insure the contents and your tenant's improvements, that is, improvements you have made yourself such as a kitchen or parquet flooring. Liability and legal expenses cover remain worthwhile. A package is still possible, but consists of fewer parts.
Then the owners' association insures the building under the division regulations, which go back to Article 5:112 of the Dutch Civil Code. You do not take out buildings insurance yourself, but you do take out contents, liability and usually cover for the owner's interest: improvements you have made yourself that do not fall under the VvE policy. Check the VvE's policy schedule before you insure anything twice.
