Home sections
- Buildings cover for the structure
- Home contents cover for your belongings
- Glass and valuables as an extension
- Each with its own sum insured
A package brings your private insurance together on one policy schedule. That saves administration and premium, but it changes nothing about what each policy covers on its own.

An insurance package is not a product in itself. It is a administrative bundling: home contents, buildings, liability, legal expenses, motor and travel appear as separate sections on one policy schedule, with one payment date and one point of contact. The insurer rewards that bundling with package discount, which usually rises as you place more sections with them.
What matters is what the bundling does not do. Each section keeps its own policy conditions, own sum insured and own excess. A claim is assessed on the conditions of that one section, not on those of the package. A discount therefore adds no cover: a package with a limited home contents section remains limited home contents cover.
We compare your insurance package across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

The insurance around your house and your belongings.

Cover for damage you cause to others and for disputes.
What is covered
| Situation | Separate policies | In a package |
|---|---|---|
| One policy schedule and one payment date | No | Yes |
| A discount that rises with the number of sections | No | Yes |
| Each section keeps its own conditions and excess | Yes | Yes |
| Ending one section without affecting the rest | Yes | Provided that |
| Wider cover than the same policy taken separately | No | No |
| Health insurance forms part of it | No | No |
What is actually covered in each section is set out in the conditions and on the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) for that section.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Two things that are often overlooked when bundling.
The exclusions remain in place for each section. Not covered are, among other things, wear, deferred maintenance and inherent defect, damage caused by war risks and nuclear reactions, and damage caused by intent or recklessness under Article 7:952 of the Dutch Civil Code. Limits also apply per section, for example for jewellery, audiovisual equipment or damage in the garden. If you cancel a section, the discount on the remaining sections may fall.
The duty of disclosure under Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code applies to each section separately. Letting a room, running a business from home, prolonged vacancy, a refurbishment or a new driver changes the risk and must be reported. If a loss occurs, report it as soon as reasonably possible, as Article 7:941 of the Dutch Civil Code requires. A package does not release you from those duties. It only makes reporting easier.
This is what people ask us most.
Not automatically. The package discount applies across the sections together, but an insurer that is keen on a single section may still be better value on its own. So work out the total, including policy charges and insurance premium tax, and only then compare the conditions. A discount on cover that is too limited is not a saving.
Usually yes, but it affects the rest. Each section has its own contract term and the package discount depends on the number of active sections. If you drop below the threshold, the discount on the remaining policies falls. So ask in advance what cancelling a section does to the total premium.
No. Health insurance is a separate, statutorily regulated insurance under the Dutch Health Insurance Act and runs through a health insurer with its own policy and its own statutory excess. It does not fall under a private general insurance package and does not count towards the package discount either.
The insurer assesses that claim solely on the conditions and the excess of the section concerned. The other sections simply continue unchanged. A claim can, however, be taken into account at the annual review of the whole package, for example in the pricing or in the conditions at renewal.
Every situation is different. For these situations we have a separate page.
