Own-damage cover on an agreed value
- Chrome and lighting
- Paintwork and interior
- Valid for three to five years
With a show truck the value lies not in the chassis but in what is on and attached to it. That is precisely the part that appears nowhere on an ordinary policy.

A hobby lorry is a truck you do not use for carrying goods but for shows, meetings, outings and collecting. Insurers accept that as a separate risk, with limited mileage and the requirement that you have another vehicle for everyday use.
You determine the insured value with a valuation. On a show truck, chrome work, lighting, paintwork, a modified interior and air horns often represent more than the truck itself, and none of that appears in any value table.
At events there is also liability: the public walks between the trucks, children climb into the cab and shunting takes place on a crowded site. Check whether the event itself arranges anything and where your own cover begins.
We compare your truck insurance across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

This overview is general in nature and is not personal advice. What is actually covered, including exclusions, limits and the excess, is set out in the policy conditions and the insurance card (verzekeringskaart) of the insurer; you receive both before you take out cover. Taking out cover without advice? Then read what execution only means for you.
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
We look at the terms as well as the premium, and stay your point of contact when there is a claim.
We are not tied to one insurer and compare on the basis of an objective analysis of several companies.
You call or email someone who knows your file. No menu options, no changing call centres.
We cancel your old policy and align the start date, so you are never a day without cover.
We report the claim and monitor how it is handled. In urgent cases you can reach us on the emergency line.
Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
Four points that make the difference between a policy that pays out and one that does not.
This is the point at which things go wrong with hobby trucks. The list price and market value know nothing of your chrome work, lighting, paintwork and interior. Have a valuer inspect the truck including all modifications, keep the invoices and photograph the whole vehicle. In the event of a total loss that report is the only basis on which payment is made.
A show truck is never finished. New lighting, a different paint job or a modified interior changes the value immediately, and that is exactly the moment when nobody thinks about the policy. Put revaluation on the list when the work is completed.
At a truck show the public walks between the vehicles. The organiser usually has its own liability cover for the site, but that does not cover what you cause with your own truck. Ask in advance what the event arranges and where your own cover begins; where there is injury, that becomes a long discussion afterwards.
Chrome parts, air horns and lighting are stolen separately, including from a supervised site. Check whether loose accessories are covered and up to what amount; under some policies only damage to the vehicle itself is included.
This is what people ask us most.
Because chrome work, lighting, paintwork and interior appear in no value table. Without a valuation you are paid for the bare truck in the event of a total loss, not for what you have put into it.
After every round of modifications, and otherwise every three to five years. A show truck changes faster than the policy is updated.
For your own truck usually yes, provided the use has been declared. For injury to members of the public your liability cover applies; ask in advance what the organiser arranges.
Only if loose accessories are covered. Under some policies only damage to the vehicle itself is included; ask about this explicitly.
Not without notifying the insurer. Commercial carriage differs from hobby use and is a ground for refusing payment.
Yes. The third-party liability requirement and road tax then lapse. You cover fire and theft in storage with storage cover.
Every situation is different. For these situations we have a separate page.
