About taking out and cancelling a policy
After the first year your insurance is cancellable daily with one month's notice, under Article 7:940 of the Dutch Civil Code.
Make sure there is not a single day between two policies; one uninsured day is precisely the day on which things can go wrong.
About claims
Report always, even where the other party appears to be at fault. Complete the European accident statement form together. You sign for how it happened, not for fault.
Accept no liability; that assessment is for your insurer.
On a small claim: work out whether claiming is worthwhile given the loss of no-claims years.
About the premium
The biggest saving usually lies in the question whether your cover still fits the market value, not in switching.
Check your no-claims years in Roy-data; mistakes do occur.
About particular situations
Suspend the registration can be arranged with the RDW if you are temporarily not driving. The car must then stand on private land.
With sale the obligation ends as soon as the registration passes to someone else; report that at once.
Changing the use: delivery work, hiring out, giving lessons: has to be declared; otherwise the cover lapses.
Independent, personal, sorted quickly
We compare your car insurance across dozens of insurers, explain where the real differences lie, and arrange the switch from start to finish — without you having to chase it yourself.

Frequently asked questions
This is what people ask us most.
Can I cancel at any time?
Daily after the first year, with one month's notice.
Do I have to report every claim?
Yes; whether you claim is a second question that you can work out.
Can I suspend the registration?
Yes, with the RDW; the car must then stand on private land.
What if I sell my car?
The obligation ends when the registration is transferred; report that at once.
Do I have to declare a different use?
Yes; delivery work, hiring out and giving lessons are risk classes of their own.
How do I save the most?
By reviewing your cover, not by simply switching.
