Business packages from Allianz
A package bundles separate business covers under one policy number and one renewal date. What you actually have insured is set out module by module and not on the cover sheet of the package.

In brief
Among others, Finass acts as intermediary for the business range of Allianz and is not tied to any company. With every insurer, a package is essentially an administrative bundling: one policy number, one direct debit, one renewal date. The cover itself remains arranged module by module, with its own sum insured, its own excess and its own conditions sheet. The range is divided by target group, from SME up to construction, wholesale and transport and logistics.
The loss that most often leads to disappointment with package policies is not a refused claim but a payout that is too low. Business contents, stock and the building are insured up to an amount that was declared at some point. If the stock grows or the workshop is extended without the sum insured growing with it, the proportionality rule applies: the insurer pays in proportion to the declared sum against the true value. The underlying principle is set out in Article 7:960 of the Dutch Civil Code: insurance may not produce a profit, but nor may it leave you with a gap you did not see coming.
The second point to note is the description of your activities on the policy schedule. That description determines the cover of virtually all modules at once. If you take on installation work, start delivering yourself or suddenly also handle third-party goods, that is a change you have to report. Under Article 7:928 of the Dutch Civil Code a duty of disclosure applies on application, and Article 7:930 of the Dutch Civil Code provides that the insurer may reduce or refuse the payout if it would have acted differently had the declaration been correct.
This page deals with one situation. The full overview is on SME insurance package.
What to watch for with a bundled contract
Four points that weigh more heavily than the number of modules on the contract.
One policy number, several descriptions of cover
Each module has its own section conditions and its own clause sheet. A preventive requirement in the fire module, such as an inspection of the electrical installation or a burglary grade, does not automatically count as met for the other sections. When the package is issued, ask for the complete set of conditions and not just the policy schedule.
Underinsurance arises gradually
An index clause follows general price movements, not your growth. An expansion of the stock, a new machine line or a refurbishment falls outside it. Have the sums insured established again at steps like those. For buildings a rebuild value calculator and for unusual objects a valuation can set the proportionality rule aside.
The indemnity period for business interruption
The business interruption insurance pays for as long as the chosen period runs. Rebuilding after a fire, permits and machine delivery times together often take more time than the standard period. If that period expires while your turnover has not yet recovered, the payments stop even though the loss is still on the books.
What is insured in no module at all
Outside every section remain: damage caused by intent or recklessness under Article 7:952 of the Dutch Civil Code, riot and nuclear reaction, and wear, corrosion and outstanding maintenance to the item itself. Also, administrative fines and penalty payments are not insurable, and gradually arising soil or groundwater contamination calls for separate environmental damage insurance.
What does your premium depend on?
- Turnover and payroll: the basis for liability and business interruption cover
- Description of the activities: determines the cover of all modules at once
- Sums insured per section: building, business contents, goods and electronics separately
- Construction type and security of the premises: fire compartmentation, burglary grade and inspections
- Excess chosen: can be set differently for each module
- The company's claims history: the number and nature of claims in recent years
Insurers weigh these details differently. That is where your saving is.
Which module comes into play
| Situation | Basic | Extended |
|---|---|---|
| A water pipe bursts over the office at the weekend and soaks the floor covering | Yes | Yes |
| Your server cabinet fails because of a voltage surge after lightning strikes further down the street | Provided that | Yes |
| A storm tears the solar panels off the roof of your unit | Provided that | Provided that |
| Your files are encrypted and you cannot invoice for a week | No | No |
| Advice from your employee costs a customer money without anything being damaged | No | No |
| The trailer behind your company van is stolen from the driveway | No | Provided that |
Every line above touches a different module. The policy number says nothing about whether that module is actually on your contract.
Frequently asked questions
This is what people ask us most.
Does a package always mean a lower premium?
Not by definition. A package discount applies to the whole, while one individual module may be keener or wider at another company. So we calculate both options: the complete package with one insurer and the heaviest section placed separately elsewhere. Only then can you see whether the discount makes up for the difference in conditions.
Can I cancel one part of the package?
You usually can, with effect from the contract renewal date, but it has consequences for the whole. The package discount is often tied to the number of sections, so ending one module can raise the premium of the remaining parts. Have the net effect calculated before you cancel.
What happens if my business activities change?
Report it as soon as it arises. A new activity, a second location or starting to work at customers' premises changes the risk in several sections at once. If a change like that only becomes visible after a claim, the insurer can rely on Article 7:930 of the Dutch Civil Code and reduce or refuse the payout.
Is construction or installation work in the package?
No. Damage to the work you carry out yourself does not fall under the liability module. That expressly excludes the work object. A separate Construction all risks (CAR) insurance or a erection all risks insuranceexists for it, which can be taken out per project or on an annual basis and sits alongside the package.
