What we do not do
- No credit or factoring
- No financing advice
- No brokerage or application
Please note: borrowing money costs money · cash flow · professional indemnity
We provide insurance; we do not finance and do not act as an intermediary in finance. What we do here is explain what a service provider should look for in finance, and which risks in this sector really do call for cover.

Please note: borrowing money costs money. A consultancy, IT service provider or interim management firm pays interest and costs too. For consumer credit the annual percentage rate (APR) sums those up in a single comparable figure; for business credit that is not compulsory. So compare on the total costs over the term, converted to an annual basis.
Finass Verzekert holds an AFM licence for non-life insurance. Credit falls under a different licence category: we do not provide finance, do not advise on it and do not act as an intermediary in it.
In business services the value lies in people, knowledge and data, not in machinery or stock. Lenders find little security there and look mainly at cash flow, work in progress and debtors. The biggest risk is correspondingly different: a professional error or a data breach, and not a fire in the building.
How the roles are divided between our firm and the party providing the finance.
We leave finance to parties with the licence for it.
The points that determine the price and the risk.
The risks that actually occur in this sector.
What is covered
| Situation | At Finass Verzekert | With the licensed provider |
|---|---|---|
| Advice on the form of finance and the term | No | Yes |
| Assessing cash flow, debtors and security | No | Yes |
| Recording a pledge and a personal guarantee | No | Yes |
| Professional indemnity for a mistake in advice or design | Yes | No |
| Cyber cover for a data breach or ransomware | Yes | No |
| Legal expenses cover for contract and debt collection disputes | Yes | No |
What is actually covered, including exclusions and the excess, is set out in the policy conditions and the insurance card (verzekeringskaart).
Four points that determine whether a service provider survives a claim or a cash gap.
A service provider has no stock and rarely any property. Lenders compensate for that with a pledge over the debtors and with a a personal guarantee from the shareholders. That guarantee normally stays in place until it is expressly withdrawn, even after you sell your shares. Have the wording of the guarantee and its duration reviewed before you sign.
Wrong advice, a mistake in a design or a missed deadline leads to pure financial loss for your client. An ordinary public and employers' liability policy covers injury and property damage, but precisely not that financial loss; for that you need a professional indemnity insurance . Fines, redoing your own work and liability you took on by contract without the law imposing it normally remain excluded.
Ransomware, a hacked mailbox or a file sent to the wrong address hits a service provider harder than a fire. A cyber insurance normally covers restoration, forensic investigation, notification duties under the GDPR and liability towards clients. It is almost always a condition that you have taken basic measures, such as multi-factor authentication and working back-ups; if those are missing, cover may lapse.
A business interruption policy pays out only after covered material damage, such as fire or water damage. If your turnover falls away because a large client stops, because a key employee is off sick or because a system is down without any physical damage, that cover does not apply. Separate solutions are needed for people being unavailable and for cyber outages; we assess those case by case.

Customers rate our service on four aspects: personal service, service delivery, availability and the outcome. The reviews are collected and published by NH1816 and come from customers who have actually taken out a policy with Finass Advies B.V. or reported a claim.
The questions we are asked most often about this.
No. Our AFM licence covers general insurance; credit falls under a different category. We do not provide finance, do not advise on it and do not act as an intermediary in it. We do arrange the professional indemnity and public and employers' liability, cyber, legal expenses and business interruption cover that a service provider needs.
Because a service provider has few assets that can be pledged. Without stock, machinery or property there is little security to establish, so the focus is on the debtors and on the shareholder himself. A personal guarantee makes your private assets liable. Always ask about the duration, the maximum amount and the conditions on which you are released.
In business services, almost always. An AVB covers injury and property damage; the typical claim in this sector is pure financial loss arising from advice, a design or an omission. That falls under professional indemnity insurance (BAV). Make sure the capacity stated on your policy covers all the work you actually do.
Normally a number of basic measures: multi-factor authentication, up-to-date software, a working back-up that has been tested for restoration, and a procedure for incidents. Those requirements are in the policy conditions or in a questionnaire with the application. If you do not meet them, the insurer may reduce or refuse payment, even if you answered the questions in good faith.
We check your capacity, your contract terms and your cyber cover.
