Your Holiday Home in Italy Well Insured

Italy is the ultimate dream destination for one seconda casa. From the rolling hills of Tuscany to the trulli of Puglia, of the lakes of Lombardy to the spectacular Amalfi Coast.

In Italy, insuring a house is less obvious than in the Netherlands. Many Italians do not insure their homes. This means limited supply and often difficult claims handling. A Dutch holiday home insurance offers a solution: better All-risk coverage, Dutch service and faster claims handling.

Important: Italy is earthquake sensitive with an average of 16,000+ earthquakes per year. Our insurance usually covers earthquake damage.

  • ⚠️ Risk areas: Apennines (Central Italy), Calabria, Sicily, Friuli
  • ⚠️ Recent earthquakes: L'Aquila 2009, Emilia-Romagna 2012, Central Italy 2016
  • ⚠️ Italian government: Payment often takes years (prime casa priority)
  • Dutch policy: Earthquake damage is usually insured
  • Faster payment: Much faster via a Dutch insurer than via Italy

💡 Always check if earthquake coverage is included, especially for properties in central Italy!
