What does borrowing money without a BKR test mean?
No BKR check
Your credit registration with the Credit Registration Bureau (BKR) will not be consulted. Any existing loans or arrears are then not taken into account.
No new registration
No new loan will be recorded with the BKR. Future lenders will therefore not see this loan again.
Only through alternatives
All Dutch banks and recognized lenders are obliged to consult BKR. Borrowing without BKR is therefore possible not through a normal personal loan.
How does BKR work and why is it used?
Purpose of BKR
The BKR registers credits to prevent over-crediting and payment problems. Loan providers are obliged to check whether a loan is responsible.
- Overview of existing loans and credits.
- Reporting payment arrears.
- Protecting consumers against excessive debt.
Why 'without BKR' is popular
Mensen zoeken vaak naar "lenen zonder BKR" als ze bang zijn voor een afwijzing of al een negatieve registratie hebben . Belangrijk is om dan goed te kijken of een extra lening wel verstandig is .
Tip: sometimes it is smarter to first restructure existing debts instead of borrowing extra.
Possibilities to borrow without a BKR check
Private loan (among family or friends)
You borrow money from someone you know. Agree on a clear interest rate, term and repayment schedule and record this in writing.
Borrow with collateral
Some providers allow you to borrow with collateral (for example a car). There is sometimes no BKR test, but the collateral can be sold if payment is not made.
Prepaid/secured credit card
A prepaid or secured credit card is charged in advance. There is no standard loan, so a BKR test is sometimes not necessary.
Flash loans (not recommended)
Very short terms and high costs. Due to stricter rules in the Netherlands, many parties have disappeared; We strongly advise against this form.
Buy Now, Pay Later
Post-payment at web shops is usually without BKR, but structural use can lead to payment problems.
Please note: always check whether a provider is supervised by the AFM and avoid parties with unclear costs.
Risks of borrowing money without BKR
Higher interest and costs
Providers take more risk and often pass it on higher interest rates and additional costs.
Rapid debt build-up
Without a credit check, it can be tempting to borrow more than is responsible, causing debts to quickly pile up.
No protective effect
A BKR check actually protects you against over-crediting. Without this protection, problematic debt burdens are more likely to arise.
Responsible alternatives with BKR
Personal loan
A fixed interest rate, clear term and monthly amount. BKR testing is mandatory, but helps to stay within responsible limits.
Merging debts (consolidating)
Combining several small loans into one clear loan can provide peace of mind and often lower monthly costs.
Budget advice or assistance
If you have payment problems, debt counseling or budget coaching can help you get things in order before you borrow again.
Frequently asked questions about borrowing without BKR
```Can I officially borrow money without a BKR assessment?
Not with banks or recognized lenders in the Netherlands. They are legally obliged to consult BKR. Borrowing without BKR is only possible through alternatives such as private loans, certain collateral loans or post-payment options.
Is a loan registered without a BKR?
No, nothing is reported to the BKR for private loans or some alternative constructions. However, that does not mean that the loan has no consequences for your financial situation.
Why is borrowing without BKR usually more expensive?
Because the provider has less insight into your financial situation and therefore runs more risk. This risk is often compensated with higher interest and additional costs.
Is a flash loan a good idea if I need money quickly?
In practice almost never. Flash loans are often extremely expensive and can quickly lead to payment problems. Rather, look for responsible alternatives or save temporarily.
What is the safest way to borrow money?
A regular personal loan or other credit through a recognized provider under the supervision of the AFM. Make sure you are well informed about the total costs, duration and risks.
