Tesla is the American car brand that made electric driving popular worldwide. Founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning in Silicon Valley, the brand grew under the leadership of Elon Musk, who joined as lead investor in 2004 and became CEO in 2008.

📜 The Founding of Tesla
Tesla engines was founded on July 1, 2003 Through Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpandning in San Carlos, California. Their goal: to prove that electric cars can be better than gasoline cars.
Elon Musk joined as lead investor in February 2004 with $7.5 million and became chairman. After conflicts with Eberhard, Musk was October 2008 CEO. In 2009, a settlement recognized all five founders: Eberhard, Tarpenning, Ian Wright, Musk and JB Straubel.
The first Tesla, the Roadster (2008), was based on a Lotus Elise and proved that electric cars could be fast and attractive. The breakthrough came with the Model S in 2012.
🏭 Gigafactory Network
Tesla produces in several worldwide Gigafactories. For the European market Gigafactory Berlin-Brandandburg in Grünheide, Germany essential. This factory opened in March 2022 and produces the Model Y for 30+ European markets.
The factory reached the milestone of 500,000 produced Model Ys and employs approximately 11,000 people. Tesla's total production capacity is more than 2.3 million vehicles per year.
⚡ Tesla Supercharger Network
Tesla has the largest fast charging network in the world: it Supercharger network. With V3 Superchargers (up to 250 kW) you can charge up to a range of 275 km in 15 minutes. There are hundreds of Supercharger locations in the Netherlands.
Since 2024, Tesla has also opened the Supercharger network to other EV brands in Europe, but Tesla drivers retain priority and lower rates.
