👤 Horacio Pagani – The Master
Horacio PAGANI was born on November 10, 1955 in Casilda, Argentina. At an early age he built car models from wood and clay. At the age of 20 he designed his first Formula 3 racer for Renault.
In 1982 he moved to Italy to work at LamborghIni, where he rose to head of composites. He worked on the Countach 25th Anniversary, the Diablo and the P140. In 1988 he founded PAGANI Composite Research on, followed by Modanda Design In 1991.
On July 1, 1992 became PAGANI Automobili S.p.A. officieel opgericht. De eerste auto zou aanvankelijk "Fangio F1" heten, ter ere van vijfvoudig F1-kampioen Juan Manuel Fangio. Na diens overlijden in 1995 became de naam uit respect gewijzigd naar Zonda.
🔬 Carbo-Titanium Technology
Carbo-Titanium is the patented material that Pagani developed in collaboration with the Modena Design Center. It combines carbon fiber with beta-titanium wires, making it both stronger and lighter than conventional carbon fiber.
In addition, Pagani uses Carbo-Triax for extra stiffness and a new type A-class carbon for the body, which is 38% stiffer. Each chassis is built entirely by hand by specialized craftsmen.
🏎️ MerceThes-AMG Partnership
Since 1994 Mercedes-AMG supplies exclusive V12 engines to Pagani. This partnership came about on the advice of Juan Manuel Fangio, who advised Horacio to approach Mercedes.
The Zonda used the naturally aspirated 7.3L M120 V12, while the Huayra and UtOnia have the biturbo 6.0L M158 V12 – specially built by AMG for Pagani. This engine delivers in the Utopia 864 hp and 1,100 Nm torque, and meets emissions requirements until 2027.
