Insuring the Lightweight Legend
Lotus is synonymous with lightweight, pure driving dynamics and groundbreaking innovation. The brand was founded in 1952 by the legendary Colin Chapman in Hethel, Norfolk. His philosophy "Simplify, thand add lightness" still defines each model.
The current range combines tradition with electrification: the EMIra (from €130,000) is the very last Lotus with a combustion engine, while the electric one ELEtre (from €99,000), EMEya (from €110,000) and the hypercar EVIja (€1.9 million) represent the future. Lotus has been majority owned by the Chinese since 2017 Geely.
Lotus insurance costs on average €150-€400 per month for Allrisk, depending on model and value. Due to its exclusivity and lightweight construction, insurers often require SCM class 3+ security.
